First of all, our architecture, system, applications, database, servers are designed for the cloud right from the beginning even before the term cloud computing was invented. We have built in redundancy at all levels starting from the servers. Even within each server we have redundancy with minimum dual CPUs, RAID architecture, virtualization where necessary. None of the application have a single point of failure with backup, redundant servers and proper load balancing. All of the user data including email are stored inside relational database which is highly secure as opposed to a file system store. Even the databases are redundant with automatic and concurrent replication to standby servers and storage. The storage is also redundant SAN with RAID 10 capability. We have multiple storage SANs as well. Along with that we have automatic backup of all the data as well. Having done that, we also want to give you the protection and peace of mind you need at your end. You can backup most of your own user specific data on your own PC. For example, you can keep copies of your all of your email that comes to your account on our system, through standard interfaces from any standard email client such as Mozilla Thunderbird, Microsoft Outlook, etc.
All your files stored on your account in IdoMail clouds can be archived, exported and imported to and from IdoMail . Your contacts, tasks, calendar information can also be automatically synchronized, exported and imported.
Finally, since we own our platform and developed it, we have complete control over it. This means that we can develop anything to extend or enhance any aspects of the system. The following are some ways on how to keep your own control over your data.
Backup of your Email on your PC
- IMAP will allow you to download messages from IdoMail Platform onto your computer so you can access your mail with a program like Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird, even when you do not have Internet connection.
- Using IMAP, You can also access your mail from multiple devices. example: iPhone, Black Berry, Android… If you check your email at work, on your mobile phone, and again at home, IMAP ensures that new mail is accessible from any device at any given time.
- Using IMAP you can sync your mail between your mail clients and your mail on Idomail Server.
Archive Email directly to your PC
We have means to export your email messages to standard maildir (RFC 822 and others) format files which can then just copy them to any maildir server account. Plus, you can import them directly into Idomail to any account. This feature is available, but not opened to public yet.
Synchronization of Files, Contacts, Tasks
You can synchronize any folders in Idomail with Microsoft Outlook folders and synchronize them. You can also synchronize over-the-air with your smart phones starting with PALM platform. iphone and android versions are coming soon.
Export of your Data
Most of your applications provide export and import facilities such as calendar, contacts, tasks, CRM, etc. You can also export and import user lists.
IdoMail Data Backup, Redundancy, Recovery Procedure
We have a strong operating process regarding data backup and recovery besides the architecture we discussed earlier. Many of the systems have been tested already in our current system without any significant downtime.
